NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 14, 2015) -- When not rocking festivals, arenas and clubs around the world, country star-on-the-rise Rick Monroe doesn't mind kicking back and savoring an adult beverage. So do many of his friends and admirers, who share the spotlight with the Florida-born dynamo on his new video, "Great Minds Drink Alike." Debuting today on CMT, it mixes dynamic performance footage of Monroe onstage with cameos from artists, musicians, road crew members and folks out for a good time at his shows, all of them celebrating the spirit of the single in their own way.
"The idea came from a conversation I had with my buddy Don Jones at Brat Fest (in Madison, Wisconsin)," Monroe says. "So I asked a few people to send in little clips to help promote the song. Then other people wanted to get involved. Friends started telling other friends about it. Soon we were getting so much crazy stuff that I said, 'We should just make the whole video like this.'"
Edited by Jones and Gene Greenwood, with appearances by Halestorm with Lzzy Hale, Angel Mary And The Tennessee Werewolves, Joe Black, Brad Darrid, Becca Hess, Jim Florentine and his son Luke, plus 50 or more others caught in the act of enjoying themselves, "Great Minds Drink Alike" provides a strong push for Monroe as he launches his seventh consecutive year as brand ambassador and emcee for the Jägermeister Presents concert series, this year featuring Lee Brice. The multi-artist tour runs through October 8.
"I'm really grateful to everyone who sent in clips and I'm excited that my video is debuting on such an important outlet," Monroe adds. "I'm also excited to see what people think when we post the outtakes sometime soon. There will be some cool surprises, with people they wouldn't expect to see!"
"Great Minds Drink Alike" continues its steady climb on the country singles charts, currently listing at No. 47 on Billboard Indicator, No. 36 on MusicRow and No. 6 on New Music Weekly.
